I searched for brass mats that would compliment my artwork... I looked high and low. Finally, I arrived at the conclusion that I would just have to manufacture my own which is no small task.

My brass mats are made from a high-copper alloy (80% Cu). The high amount of copper lends a luxurious golden look to the mat.

Leather Cases - $165.00 to $465.00 - black, burgundy, or brown leather with choice of velvet color (red, dark blue), and embossing.

I make use of all of the archival methods and materials known to me including PVA glue, aniline dyes, and Filmoplast tapes. I intend for the cases I make to last a very long time.

Each case includes a 100% silk velvet insert with your choice of colors. The case will include a velveteen-flocked pinch-pad retainer device for securing the image package via a friction fit.

Every case is made to order once payment is received. When ordering, please specify your choice of leather color, and your choice of velvet color.

Other materials are available by special request. I have made cases out of stingray leather (shagreen), elephant leather, and various exotic wood veneers. Please contact me for pricing.

Daguerreotype Sensitizing Box - $200.00 - handmade wooden box for sensitizing your own daguerreotypes.

The sensitizing box is made from stained and sealed Poplar wood with a finish of your choice. The box is constructed using a minimum of metal components but the clamping mechanism will corrode with exposure to Iodine over the course of a few years. Included in the price are:

• Pyrex-brand glass dish for holding chemicals
• Lexan-brand acrylic solid cover
• One Lexan-brand acrylic plate carrier (up to whole plate)

I love to make daguerreotypes from just about any source image you have. High resolution color digital files are the best. These are a great way to have a real daguerreotype portrait of yourself or your loved ones since my daguerreotype process doesn't work for moving subjects. Many customers select a favorite wedding photograph to be rendered as a beautiful keepsake.

The 4x5 inch daguerreotypes will ship with a brass mat, please specify the window shape when ordering. The whole-plate (6.5x8.5") daguerreotypes will ship with a black 8-ply 100% rag rectangular mat. All of my daguerreotypes are glazed with anti-reflective, ultra-clear museum glass.

Personal Instruction - $525.00

I will show you the ropes of making Becquerel-process Daguerreotypes in my workshop in Durham, NC USA. This is a one-on-one two-day session.

Tuition includes two full days of instruction and materials so that you can go home with two finished 4x5" Daguerreotypes for framing with basic paper mats. If you have a 4x5 negative that you're fond of, you can bring it so that you can make a contact-print (the lower the contrast the better).

You're welcome to use my 8x10 camera or you can, of course, bring your own. If you shoot with a 4x5 camera, we'll have to trim the plates down a little bit to fit inside your film holders. Let me know what you're bringing and I'll prepare the plates & glass beforehand. A view camera is encouraged but not required. Contact me for further information. The class curriculum roughly works like this:

• Plate 1 Sensitization
• In-camera exposure
• Plate 1 Development, equipment overview, chemistry preparation, and safety
• Plate 1 Processing (leave in water overnight for next day's less on gilding)

• Plate 2 Sensitization
• Plate 2 in-camera or contact-print exposure
• Plate 2 development, case construction overview, leather information, finishing Q&A, etc.
• Plate 2 processing
• Plates 1&2 Gilding
• Drying and Sealing Plates 1&2
