Daguerreoversiary - 8/19/1839
THIS DAY IN HISTORY….
I’ve said before that I’m not a big history buff when it comes to daguerreotypes but it’s fairly inescapable seeing as how I work in a medium so steeped in, well, history. Regardless, today is important because this is the day that France gave the world the gift of the daguerreotype and unleashed Daguerreotyomanie.

Occasionally I’ll post links to the work of photographers that I enjoy. I work for a small company with a diverse and talented staff. One of my coworkers, Kim Durack, is a very talented photographer and I thought that you might enjoy seeing some of his work. Kim has a charming way with people that allows him to capture very sincere emotion and that virtue is perfectly apparent in his body of work.

Words that John McCain Should Avoid
This is only tangentially on-topic but I thought that it was too funny to keep to myself.
Jon Stewart has suggested a few words that septuagenarian USA presidential candidate senator John McCain should try and avoid. Among them is “daguerreotype”.
