Top secret art project.
The microphone records sound in a hyper realistic fashion. When played back through headphones the effect is generated such that you feel a vivid realness.

I greatler prefer cutting mats on demand in any size or shape I wish instead of being forced to purchase thirty or more at a time in one shape only.
The CNC is an extremely versatile tool and though it's not the ideal way of making brass mats it is fast and reasonably efficient.
The ShopBot is a professional tool that is designed for production work and it is a high precision tool. Even the "low-end" model ($6000 plus shipping) is robust and fully capable of 24/7 operation.
One day I may purchase one but seeing as how it is not directly applicable to my art I'm going to save my money for other projects in the meantime.I bought this tool because I found that resources such as emachineshop were too impractical for the quantity of mats that I wanted to buy. Are there problems with the CNC machine you have or is this just a "more, better, faster" kind of thing? I am also wondering - have you invested in these kinds of tools primarily for making cases, or are there other uses?I will be curious to hear about the experience.
