Two Daguerreotypes Developing
Well it’s 10:00AM and I have two daguerreotypes already developing outside. Here’s hoping that I didn’t screw up the exposures.
I’m going to the ShopBot Tools open house in a minute. I’m curious to see what a proper CNC machine looks like and if there’s a place for one in my studio (and wallet!).

I will be curious to hear about the experience. Are there problems with the CNC machine you have or is this just a “more, better, faster” kind of thing? I am also wondering - have you invested in these kinds of tools primarily for making cases, or are there other uses?
I bought this tool because I found that resources such as emachineshop were too impractical for the quantity of mats that I wanted to buy. I greatler prefer cutting mats on demand in any size or shape I wish instead of being forced to purchase thirty or more at a time in one shape only.
The CNC is an extremely versatile tool and though it’s not the ideal way of making brass mats it is fast and reasonably efficient.
The ShopBot is a professional tool that is designed for production work and it is a high precision tool. Even the “low-end” model ($6000 plus shipping) is robust and fully capable of 24/7 operation.
One day I may purchase one but seeing as how it is not directly applicable to my art I’m going to save my money for other projects in the meantime.
OK - I give up. What is this for?
