Gold Tooling Class and some Lab Updates
6-25-2006
I have a Daguerreotype up for auction on eBay at the moment. Please drop in and bid! Gallery price for this image is $400 and I’m fairly certain that you can get it for less than that on eBay. You’ll notice that I’m selling some other items so that I can pay for supplies and new toys.
I have officially signed up (and paid) for a class in August in New York. The subject of the course at The Center for Book Arts is titled Tooling. Book artist Gavin Dovey will be teaching an introduction to the art of adding gold embellishment to leather-bound books. I’m very excited to take up this habit with my Daguerreotype cases. I’m going to be making a handful of cases this week to build stock back up.
I managed to destroy my plate holder by getting it too close to the developing lamp last weekend. I continue to be amazed at the heat energy of a 250 watt light bulb. Since I have to make an all new plate holder, I’m going to make this one to include markings for mounting full-size plates.
