Joint Art Project With Kaden Harris, Eccentric Genius
5-7-2006
Two Daguerreotypes are up for sale on eBay right now. I’m trying to raise some money for some new materials (shiny silver plates and brass mats) so I badly need to sell these! I have been very busy lately. I have finished a big order for reproduction leather cases for a collector and the shipment will go out this week. If there’s some interest, I may be putting up a storefront somewhere to sell handmade leather photographic cases for Daguerreotypes, Ambrotypes, etc. It has taken me an awfully long time to figure out how to make the cases and I think that there’s a market for it based on the poor condition of original cases that I’ve seen. Please drop me a message to let me know if you’re interested!
I have just returned from a few days in the mountains and I’m exhausted! My company held its annual retreat in the quiet mountains surrounding Lake Logan in North Carolina. I wasn’t able to make Daguerreotypes since I’m fresh out of plates but I actually broke out the ‘ole film camera and made some images on emulsion for old time’s sake. I’m betting that I’ll have them developed around September or so!
My friend Kaden and I have started brainstorming about a joint art project. At the moment, the rough idea is for me to Daguerreotype his wonderful, strange creations in scenes suggesting the out-of-time convergence-of-timelines that they naturally imbody. The Daguerreotype medium is a perfect one for this effect. I’ll have more information later on as the work progresses. We’re hoping to put together a show of 12 or so of my Daguerreotypes with Kaden’s sculptures accompanying. Neat, huh?!
