I have an Allergy… to casemaking?

It seems that I have an allergy to something that I use to make my Daguerreotype cases. I went absolutely gangbusters yesterday and cut enough wood to make about 30 cases. Unfortunately, the dense hardwood (tigerwood) that I have started using to make the case rails disagrees with my skin. All of my skin. Every square inch of my skin. I swear it’s not leprosy, it just looks that way. I think that I’m going to switch to using good old English oak or something similar.

After several misfires and extra confusion over the past month, I finally received my latest batch of 4×5″ plates. I received two whole plates (6.5″x8.5″) also and I’m very excited to make bigger Daguerreotypes.

New Commissions and Shiny New Plates

I’ve been on Daguerreian hiatus for a few weeks. I ordered a dozen new Daguerreotype plates including two full-plates from my plater and they’ll be here tomorrow. Kaden will be sending me the first of his sculptures to photograph in a few weeks for our collaborative and I’ve very excited to get to play with it!
