Bigger Daguerreotypes Coming Soon… and a New House

I’ve been retooling the Daguerreotype lab to accomodate a change to my process. Instead of sticking with the deprecated classic plate sizes, I’ve decided to switch to 4×5 as a primary size. To accomodate the new size, I’ve had to update just about every piece of equipment that I use to make the Daguerreotypes: ring stand, sensitizing plate, plate holder, etc.

The Dag Lab Works!

Last week, I took the day off to test out the Daguerreotype lab and everything checks out great! I made one quarter-plate proof-of-concept piece and another quarter-plate as a gift. I am down to my last usable blank plate so I’ll be ordering some new materials soon.

The danforthsource has expanded and will be going live with a new off-shoot. My full-time career is engineering audio/video systems for KONTEK Systems in Durham, NC. Recipients of my business cards are directed to the main domain for links to the two major facets of my working life. The information contained in the updates to the photography portion will now become more particular to the subject as the new AV Engineering news section comes online.
