Daguerreotype Cases and the SC State Fair

Since last I posted, I have been busy with my day job but I’ve been working on my art when I can. I’ve made one case for a Daguerreotype, ordered all of the proper supplies for making them properly (in that order), bought fancy-pants clear “Water White” glass to re-glaze the Daguerreotypes, and started making another case. What an ordeal! I wish I only had to program three of four days a week instead of five. It’s all part of my plan…
After extended pestering and soul searching, I decided to enter two of my photographs in the state fair. Bad lighting, questionable attendance, and unlikely sales prospects but the exposure will be nice. I’ve only ever done one show in the past (with some sales success) at a little coffee shop so this event might prove to be of benefit. We’ll see.
I’m entering the framed 25″ by 25″Meridian Near Zenith #9 (Lightjet from film) for $650 and the 16″ by 16″ framed 3.5″ by 4.5″ Proof of Concept #1 (Rocking Chairs) (Daguerreotype) for $500. Maybe I’ll see you at the fair… sorry for the bad lighting.

I got back from North Carolina on Saturday afternoon with a great deal of knowledge and inspiration in tow. The past week has been productive and relaxing.
